I watched Nightmare Before Christmas

We had a belated Halloween party this last weekend and watched Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline and Mad Monster Party, which is a long lost precursor to Nightmare.  That one was hilarious!  Hard to find though.  Anyway, I wanted to draw some things after a good dose of Burton and this is the result.  I tried to think of how could the monster be built if the doctor was even MORE incompetent...  What is the most worthless thing he could have as a hand if Dr Frankenstein didn't have enough parts?

Bill Jarcho Caricature

I caricatured one of my professors while listening to critique from him on my senior project at "the 'Pen."

Imp doodle

Sketch a day theme.  This one was from my D&D addicted girlfriend.  Came out fun.  I was thinking of the blue and red demons from Snake Way in Dragonball Z.

Fairy Pig

My favorite part of this is how Happy he looks.  I imagine him as having nieces or something that wanted him to go trick or treating with them and he needed a costume.  Naturally this would be the result.

Office of the Damned doodle

This one came up and I thought of the general atmosphere of my time in "the 'Pen".  The rest was easy.

Victorian Character Doodle

Originally this was supposed to be steampunk, but besides a couple of gears on his cane, I think it doesn't really hit that.

My idea of a smart phone

I'm somewhat backward when it comes to the new-fangled technology.  Being old-fangled, when I hear smart, phone, I think of something silly like this.

The Great Teapot Exercise

These are pages from my Art 101 sketchbook.  The exercise was to do 300 thumbnails of a teapot, saucer and teacup.  Its an exercise in both composition and concept.  BJ Becker has been flogging his students with this for years.  I started going crazy toward the end after so many teapots, but looking back, I like some of these and did have fun with them.  This was freshman year at "the 'Pen", 2008.

Robot Funs

When you sculpt with clay, you can start off intending to make something really great.  This doesn't always work.  As soon as you realized you've messed up, put four notches in it and say it's an ashtray.  Similarly, if a drawing goes entirely to cock, just put some radiator tubes on it and treads and call it a robot.
